We also pride ourselves on having instructors, counselors, and massage therapists who continually seek to better themselves by learning more about their field, their craft, and their art. We listed a few of each team member's accomplishments, but please keep in mind that most of our instructors are often undertaking additional education and as such, details for each instructor may not be up-to-date.

Janel Norton (Owner)

Janel Norton isn’t just a business owner with a passion for yoga—she is also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force as a combat photojournalist. She was also a press information officer and photojournalist for the United Nations, spending her early career documenting crises in Panama, Bosnia and Liberia.

Then, after 20 years as a photographer, Janel returned to school for her master’s degree from the University of South Florida. After facing a difficult job market upon graduating and discovering how yoga helped her maintain balance, she enrolled in a yoga teacher training program. “I managed to trade my photo and marketing skills for a 200-hour yoga teacher training and began teaching a few classes at the studio where I practiced near my house,” Janel explained.

Her newfound love of yoga—and teaching it—quickly turned into ownership of Trinity Yoga Studio. Janel credits the leadership and work ethic instilled during her military training as a large part of how she formed her path from U.S. Air Force to business owner: “Once you enter into the ranks, there’s constantly a push for growth. Making rank and supervising others is just part of the natural progression of things—the nature of how the military operates instills confidence, a sense of purpose and direction.”

Eventually, Janel wanted to give back to other veterans like her which lead her to co-found the Veterans Alternative, a non-profit organization designed to serve Veterans experiencing trauma incurred while serving in the military by training the mind, body, and spirit to heal after returning home from military service.

Janel now serves on the board at Fort Valor, a new non-profit that provides support to veterans through Brazilin Jiu-Jitsu, yoga, camaraderie and other support services. She also travels nationwide to provide yoga and iRest as part of the O2X Human Performance Team co-founded by two former Navy Seals, and for the Brian Bill Foundation’s Special Operations Warrior Healing Program.

Ray Norton –Yoga has been life changing journey for me. My career as a first responder for 30+ years working as a firefighter, paramedic and a flight medic combined with many years of martial arts and heavy weight training has taken its toll on my body over time. Jeannine Laurence (Yoga Instructor)

Jeannine grew up exposed to yoga and meditation from a very young age.  She has been a dedicated yoga practitioner and student since 2000.  In 2009, Jeannine completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Ashtanga-based Teacher Training with Ally Ford.  She is also certified to teach Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga and has a certificate from the Warriors at Ease: Part One, Fundamentals of Teaching Yoga and Meditation in Military Communities training.  Jeannine loves to make yoga available to every body with a great focus on modifications and by practicing and teaching with honesty, integrity, mindfulness, and acceptance.

Christina Chatfield is a 200 hour ERYT with Yoga Alliance through Radius Yoga Conditioning, FMS (Functional Movement System) trained, Vedic Thai Yoga Assisted Asana Practitioner and Acutonics Sound Therapy Practitioner, and a seasoned leader in the fitness world. Christina’s love of yoga began in a gym and evolved into a full time passion. Yoga has changed Christina’s perspective on fitness and how she creates a healthy and functional body, mind and spirit.

She found that feeling good in her body correlated with feeling connected spiritually emotionally and mentally as well. This connection constantly inspires Christina to become more knowledgeable of how our bodies work, how important proper breathing is and knowing that the biomechanic of breath directly impacts how our bodies move. When Christina teaches she tries to inspire her students to find greater awareness of their own bodies to create well being.

Mary Olbruck Derkevics (Yoga Instructor)

Mary attended her first yoga class in 2004.  She was always active and interested in fitness whether it be lifting weights, spinning, or running.  After her first yoga class,  she knew immediately she needed to incorporate yoga into her exercise routine.  She loved the way it made her feel mentally and physically.  In 2010, after having her daughter, she continued her practice and came to the realization that not only practicing yoga but, teaching and sharing it with others was her lifelong dream and passion.  Mary first and foremost, reminds her students that "Yoga is a Journey."  She loves to incorporate fun and challenging poses in her classes including arm balances but, also teaches her students how to utilize their breath throughout their practice whether it be going deeper into poses or calming the mind.  She is a graduate of the Prana Vinyasa 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Leslie Lemmon (Yoga Instructor and Massage Therapist)

Leslie is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, as well as a licensed Massage Therapist. Leslie shares insight from her personal journey of yoga beginning as recuperation from a terrible car accident. She found that yoga helped regenerate nerves injured by complications of surgery and decreased her constant neck and back pain. Her teaching style fosters the peace and balance of a well rounded practice, a peaceful meditative presence to unite the mind, body and spirit.

Terry Stanley (Yoga Instructor)

Terry Stanley –On a mission to improve her health and well-being, Terry attended her first yoga class at age 67 just to see what it was all about. Being out of shape and overweight, she found a corner in which to hide, but most importantly, she discovered a welcoming and loving home at Trinity. While slowly gaining strength, flexibility and confidence, she embarked on a mission to learn as much as she could. Feeling better and seeing an improvement in health made the mission even more important. Eventually, she even came out of the corner!

Anahata Earth Yoga Teacher Training provided the opportunity to learn more about the yoga lifestyle. Being a retired Pasco County school teacher, teaching yoga was, at first, just a remote possibility. As she neared the end of training she felt a passion to teach. Now, as a 70-year-old yoga teacher, there is a special place in her heart for anyone, of any age or any size who is trying to improve their health and well-being. She teaches Gentle and Hatha classes with a sense of humor and compassion.

She truly believes that you are never too old to improve your health, learn something new, set another goal, or to dream a new dream!

She began her yoga journey back in 2008, she found that yoga helped with her breathing that she no longer needed her Asthma inhaler. Yoga changed her life, she finds calm in the face of challenging situations as she focuses on her breath. Samira wishes to share the gift of Yoga and help make the world a more peaceful place.

Pam Reed discovered yoga in the ‘80’s when she studied with Allen Bateman in NYC. Pam had an acting career and also trained in dance and voice prior to becoming a speech language pathologist. Pam’s Yoga Certification is Prana Flow™ (Shiva Rea), and she is continuing her studies and moving toward earning her 500-hour certification with the belief that you never stop learning.

In taking Pam's class, students will experience yoga based on the Prana Flow™ system along with 5 Element Mudras and Yoga Nidra. She believes Yoga is a work-within not just a work-out. Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. Mahatma Gandhi

Taye Ph (Yoga Instructor)

Taye Ph –I first began practicing yoga in 2008 as a way of coping with the stresses of work and life. At first it was a form of physical exercise - something that I practiced to give me clarity of mind, vital energy, and balance in my hectic life. However, over time, practicing yoga has allowed me to become more dedicated to the art and to what is truly important. As I continued my practice of yoga as an avid yogi, I have always felt I that wanted to grow more in my journey. The opportunity came in early-Summer 2014 when I was able to complete Missy's Creative Flow 40 hour teacher training at Studio 108, Tampa. Later in early-Spring 2016, I completed the 200 hour RYT training & Yin Yoga Immerson and became Yoga Alliance Certified.

Throughout my many years of experience, I have come to see yoga as a way of life. Yoga gives me the principles, virtues and structure that guide my daily choices and relationships with the world and the people around me. I have further realized the importance of building positive relationships with everything and everyone around me and avoiding negative situations. Yoga has helped me become grounded in all aspects of life and to grow as a person. Moreover, my practice gives me the tools I need to tackle challenges, to find balance and peace, and to be flexible when life calls for it.

Jodi Stoner (Yoga Instructor)

 Jodi Stoner is thrilled and honored to join this team of instructors. Her classes are mindful, playful and heartfelt. With an extensive background in group fitness, she believes yoga can give you a sense of freedom and power both on and off the mat. Her yoga style is focused on alignment, balance, strength and fun. She is passionate about wellness and the mind body connection. She strives for positivity and happiness and knows both can be achieved when we’re true to ourselves.

Michelle is a graduate of the 200-hr and 300-hr Hatha training at Pose by Pose Yoga with a focus on yoga as therapy. Additional training includes: 15-hr yin yoga immersion; 20-hr yoga outreach (at-risk youth; domestic shelters). Michelle’s yoga practice began in 2013 with a Friday night invite to aerial yoga with friends, which became a monthly get together. That led to an invite to a hot class at her neighborhood studio. The yearning to deepen her personal practice is what led to teacher training. Love of every aspect of the practice and belief in the healing power of the tools it provides is what motivates her to share. You can expect a calm space with good vibes and a focus on using the breath to guide your movement. She provides plenty of options for every body type and invites you to develop a deeper sense of body awareness.

I started my yoga journey in 2011. I came to Trinity Yoga in 2013 and found my home. The teachers were so kind and accepting, after 6 years I embarked on a journey to learn more and became a teacher. I studied and completed the Ashtanga Teacher Training in 2017. In 2018 I completed a 40-hour training with Jennifer Reis the founder of Diving Sleep ® Yoga Nidra. I have learned that Yoga is a way of life and not just an exercise routine. Sharing the knowledge and philosophy with the students has brought me great joy. Yoga has truly transformed my life. Vicki Cloutier(Yoga Instructor)

I discovered the teachings of yoga in 2008 while dealing with the grief of my mother’s passing. A friend recommended that I read “An Autobiography of a Yoga” by Paramahansa Yogananda. This piqued my interest in Meditation and I decided to dive deeper into Yoganandaji’s teachings by studying the offerings provided by the Self Realization Fellowship. In 2010, I decided to incorporate asana into my practice and stepped onto the mat for the first time. I have not looked back since. It is through my own path of self-healing where I discovered that yoga helps us to process through our challenges and provides us a safe haven to surrender and grow. It is my desire to share this knowledge with others led me to become a certified Yoga Teacher in 2017.

Jen Swarengin

Jennifer has been practicing yoga for over 15 years. What started out as a method of physical exercise, turned into a way of life. The principles, movement, breath, and mindfulness of yoga have made the ups and downs of life more manageable. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at The Lotus Pond Center in Tampa. There, she learned the advanced studies of yoga philosophy, postures, breath-work and meditation. She enjoys sharing this beautiful practice with her students. Her goal is to make yoga accessible to all levels of student by offering plenty of guidance and modifications. She is grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to incorporate the principles of yoga, including peace, contentment, and compassion into their daily lives.

Kara Stratton

My name is Kara and aerial arts is my passion! I specialize in silks, Lyra (hoop), straps and hammock. I fell in love when I took my first class in my friends back yard 5 years ago. Before I experienced aerial, I was an avid yogi and loved the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of yoga. The benefits of breath work and asanas transcended into the rest of my daily life. Once I realized aerial yoga was an actual thing, I jumped on the opportunity and received my 32-hour teacher certification. I can’t wait to mesh together my two passions and share the endless possibilities of aerial yoga with you all.

 Ashly found her love for yoga when she took her first Bikram yoga class in 2008. Ever since then she has been practicing yoga religiously. Ashly enjoys strength training alongside her hot power yoga practice to stay balanced in                                              her active lifestyle.
